Like many wedding photographers, I thought I had my career mapped out perfectly. Then 2020 arrived, and everything changed overnight.
Suddenly, couples were calling in tears. Their dream weddings were being postponed for the second, sometimes third time. The stress was overwhelming – not just for them, but for me watching these beautiful love stories being put on hold indefinitely.

With my calendar unexpectedly cleared, I found myself with something I hadn’t had in years: time to think. That’s when a quiet voice in my gut whispered, “What if there’s another way?”
I began researching elopements with the curiosity of someone discovering a hidden treasure. What I found wasn’t just an alternative to big weddings – it was something far more beautiful. Elopements weren’t about settling for less; they were about choosing more of what truly mattered.
The intimacy. The authenticity. The freedom to celebrate exactly as you are, without the weight of expectations or the stress of pleasing everyone else.
I was captivated by couples who chose secluded beaches over crowded venues, who exchanged vows with tears of joy instead of tears of stress, who invested in their love story rather than impressing distant relatives.
