Elopement Photography in Margaret River

I am doing more and more elopement photography in Margaret River. The Margaret River region has become the best destination in WA for elopement weddings. The South West has an abundance of fantastic options for people planning their elopement down south, including pristine beaches, beautiful forests and hidden gems like Harmony Forest

I arrived shortly before Madi & Vincents elopement ceremony which allowed me to get some nice natural photos showing their guests getting excited about seeing Madi in her dress.

Vincent was super relaxed, he has a fantastic sense of humour and laid back manner that would get you through any life experience. Getting to know Vincent and Madi it’s easy to understand why they chose to elope. They really appreciate and love the simple things, nature, friends and family. If a big wedding isn’t your thing, then why not elope together down south, it is a fun awesome option.

Emotions run just as high at elopement weddings and this really suite my natural wedding photography style. Actually a little harder to achieve because there are less people to blend in with and people can be slightly more aware of you and your camera.

I just had to get damn right sneaky and use my skills to capture people when they were too busy immersed in the emotions, joy and happiness. Patience pays off.

Bride & Groom Photos at Harmony Forest

After congratulations I photographed lots of family groups, I don’t think that the extended family get to catch up too often so I was very happy to photograph as many combinations as they could think of.

Harmony Lake with it’s beautiful tree lined borders is actually quite a rare find at weddings. Whilst many wineries have dams, this lake looks natural with longer grassed edges and trees down to the edge of the water.

It really blows me away when you think about the amazing wedding and elopement venues we have here in the Margaret River region. Everyone of them, however large or small has so many location options for photos. Vineyards, lakes, dams, forests, beaches and rivers, it really is an amazing part of the world to be a professional wedding photographer.

Sometimes having wedding photos with your teenage daughter doesn't always go to plan. This was a fun sequence that actually turned into a bouquet fight.

This scene here with vineyard rows and beautiful tall Karri trees in the background is a lot of fun to work with. The afternoon light filters through the trees giving a really nice soft romantic feel to the photographs.

On a lovely still day you can get amazing mirrored reflections across Harmony Lake. In this set of photos I wanted to keep things really simple and let the Madi, Vincent and the spectacular backdrop be the heroes of the photos.

Awesome elopement wedding locations to consider.

There are some spectacular tree lined roads to photograph elopements in Margaret River. I personally love when the trees canopy’s meet up and form a tunnel along the road. It gives my photos some really nice leading lines and perspectives that add depth. This is a skill I use in my landscape photography.

Boranup Forest history

Magical is a nice easy way to describe Boranup Forest. The ancient gigantic Karri trees, each of them hundreds if not thousands of years old, reminds us of how small a speck we really are in life. The Wadandi Noongar people are the traditional owners of The South West with evidence of human existence dating back forty eight thousand years.

Elopement wedding photography at Redgate Beach is one of my favourite location choices if the wind is in the right direction. The beachscape is dominated by huge impressive granite rock formations, smoothed by nature over thousands of years they come out brilliantly in photography,.

Why Redgate is the best beach wedding photo location in Margaret River.

The combination of the rocky coastline, sunset and Madi and Vincent allows me to quickly and easily build a nice variety of photographs with minimal direction. I feel that the more you direct the more you kill the experience and the connection between the couple. By keeping direction to only when it is needed, my clients excitedly tell me how easy and fun their experience was.
