Why I love this pic

I absolutely love photographs that show the essence of peoples personality, the type of photograph that is taken only when the subject is unaware that there is a camera pointing at them.

Photographs taken in this way are authentic, they show genuine emotion and they have their own little story.

I love the pure excitement on this guests face and the reaction from the bridesmaids, there is just a beautiful happy vibe going on and I think it’s a great memory for Paul & Kira to have.

The thing with photos like this is that the bride and groom may not have even seen this happen, so, when I photograph images like this I look at them like little gifts. After your wedding you will be desperate to see your photos, so you can enjoy and share them but also to help you to remember a day that was fast and hectic.

Organising a wedding from Sydney in the middle of a pandemic with the threat of borders opening and closing at the drop of a hat was so stressful, but with a team like this who were so flexible, attentive and fun to work with was the absolute dream. We loved every minute of the day, it was so chilled and flowed effortlessly from beginning to end, and the photos John captured really do tell that story. I love working with Lauren, her weddings are always meticulously planned and every detail considered which results in an extremely present and relaxed bride and groom. There’s not a stress in the world and they are focused on having an epic day. I love that!!

I love the spontaneous natural photos that are honest memories. They remind us of what it was like and how it felt. Those little laughs with your best mates and your family.

Not heaps of directed pics because Kira isn’t a fan, it’s nothing new for me, I find that a lot of my clients have chosen me cause they love how I am able to capture the moments that just happen without posing.

Pre ceremony is a fantastic time to photograph people in the height of excitement and anticipation. This is all stuff that Kira will not see on her wedding day, so I want her to be able to feel what the mood was like before she made her entrance.

The wedding ceremony is jam packed full of emotion and excitement that I want to capture, I move around in the background a lot to get as many different perspectives as I can.

The congratulations is one of my favourite moments at a wedding, I love the pure joy etched on peoples faces, I try to get as many exchanges between guests as I can.

Allowing a great bunch of mates to drink some bubbles and share some laughs has it photo rewards. When required I also have some funny games that I like to throw at the bridal party which again creates spontaneity for more natural photos and an awesome experience.

Paul is a bloody funny guy, he comes from Merseyside which is renowned for it’s fantastic sense of humour.

Time to switch into some Lacoste trainers as rock hopping in high heels is a tad scary heh.

We got to Sugar Loaf Rock to see in the sunset which is the best light for pics. I am a passionate landscape photographer and I love tapping into those skills on a wedding day.

Pullman Bunker Bay Resort has an awesome outside deck overlooking the Indian Ocean. The amazing Donna and her staff worked alongside Lauren Green to create an absolutely stunning space for the wedding reception.

I love to make sure that I have photographed all the beautiful details, the decor, colours and special finishing touches that Lauren, Kira and Paul would have planned together over many chats and emails.

Speeches are a time that I want to capture as many smiles, laughs and reactions as I possibly can.

When we progress into dancing, it’s time to get in amongst it.

I am in the thick of the action, photographing with a 35mm lens. It’s interesting how wedding guests accept me and my camera, they don’t avoid me or shape their actions but they are happy to be themselves and for me to capture it. I find this acceptance starts at the congratulations just after the ceremony.

Top Six Fremantle Wedding Photo Locations.

Cliff St, Fremantle Wedding Photos.

There is something beautiful and nostalgic about the late 1800’s architecture, the Reckitt & Coleman building facade pic below was built in the 1890’s to hide some ugly cottages that were later knocked down. It’s been used in millions of Fremantle wedding photos and even used as a backdrop in a movie.

Ditching the wedding car and moving on foot allows everyone to relax together and have a fun experience which leads to some awesome natural wedding images.

Bathers Beach Fremantle.

This is the beach next to The Roundhouse, it’s a two minute walk in high heels (I haven’t personally tested this) from Cliff St to the beach.

The roundhouse provides some creative options with the tunnel under the jail, the light is really interesting. There are also some nice high walls next to the beach with small trees which are really cool.

Fremantle Maritime Museum.

A contrast to the typical earlier architecture found in Fremantle, this is a modernist building with the potential for dramatic wedding images. Especially after it rains you can get some epic reflection photos with the puddles. If you don’t mind jumping in the car or walking a bit further from Bathers Beach it’s going to give you some variety to your photos.

It also has the Fremantle docks, E Shed markets and old warehouses all there which is awesome.

Fremantle Court House.

Fremantle Court House is situated opposite Esplanade Park and next to Henry St and Cliff St which are all awesome! The cool thing is that you can get a few at each spot as you go for a walk.

Before you know it, you’ve had a great time and got some awesome natural wedding photos with heaps of variety.

Fremantle Court House has two beautiful London Plane Trees on each side, I like using the side archways to frame people with the trees in the background. Or from the front there is nice side light on the back wall which can give nice creative black and whites.

Henry Street Fremantle.

Henry Street has some beautiful street facades with coloured doorways that hint at Mediterranean influences. The brick archways in the photo below lead into a leafy red bricked street with beautiful architecture. Awesome for wedding photos.

Fremantle Esplanade Park.

Just at the end of Henry St Fremantle Esplanade Park has some beautiful big pine trees, lovely green grass and also a little forest area too. On the way across to Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. Again all of these locations are very close to one another, offering fantastic variety and convenience.

Another option for water pics, lovely bright fishing boats reflect into the water framed by boardwalks and renovated warehouses.

Little Creatures Brewery Fremantle.

Treat yourself to a nice beer or champagne and get some nice natural photos with your bridal party hanging out and having fun.

This is a great spot to be picked up by your driver if your reception venue is not close by.

More on thew DIY side of things, this is a beautiful beach with lawned areas. It can really busy on nice days and parking can be hard to find.
